Spiderweb Quilt

I'm finishing up a quilt begun back in late April.  I first saw a Spiderweb quilt (Maple Leaf Rag) I really loved in the book: Material Obsession 2 by Kathy Doughty and Sarah Fielke.  What really made it stand out was the crazy patch kite shapes and the offsetting of the rows.  I struggled to create one in EQ7 and then the very next day at quilt guild, a new member brought exactly that quilt for Show and Tell.  It absolutely blew me away.  She gave me the tip to go to the Nifty Quilts blog to find an easier way to construct it.

So, I did.  But along the way I figured out a few little things that sped up the process even more.  So I am creating a tutorial to help anyone else wanting to make one of these.  They really aren't difficult at all and using the Nifty Quilts tips and mine, you should be able to make one easily. Just take it one step at a time.  Here's mine (in progress on the design wall):
